SRINAGAR, Aug 22: Project sanctioning and monitoring committee of Department of Land Resources, Govt. of India under National Land Records Modernization Programme has approved in its 1st phase the Action Plan for 12 districts for J&K at the cost of Rs 93.39 crore.
The successful and time bound implementation of the Plan would enable the State to extend the programme to remaining 10 districts in the 2nd phase including administrative units recently sanctioned by the Govt. provided infrastructure for them is raised and completed in due course of time, and an amount of Rs 90 crore will be available for this phase. The programme in the entire State would in this manner entail Rs 184 crore.
The Programme envisages computerization of Land Records, creation of 1 State, 9 Regional Directorates, 22 Districts, 217 Tehsils, and 558 Niabat Data Centres, inter Connectivity among 908 revenue officers, Survey/ Re-Survey, updating of land records, establishing of 248 Modern Record Rooms and computerization of registration.
The J&K is already in the club of 5 States which are rated as success stories in computerization of Land Records/Survey/ Re-Survey. The State was represented by Arun Kumar, Financial Commissioner (Revenue) J&K, A.A.Latief-u-Zaman Deva, Commissioner Survey and Land Records, J&K.
