UDHAMPUR, Mar 28: Chairman of Devika Baisakhi Mela Committee, Surinder Khajuria, president Swantantra Dev Kotwal and other members, called on Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary and submitted him a representation demanding adequate arrangements during the forthcoming 3-day traditional Baisakhi Mela at Devika rivulet shrine site from April 13 to April 15.
In the representation, it was requested that all the concerned departments be asked to co-operate and lay stalls in the Mela to aware the general public, especially rural masses regarding the programmes envisaged for them; wide publicity and coverage to the Mela through press and electronic media by the Public Relations & Information Department and elaborate security arrangements during the event, particularly on April 16 during grand wrestling.
The Committee also urged that the Municipality Udhampur should start cleanliness drive vigorously at and around the Mela site, Devika temple and Udhampur city, including check and control of road encroachments, congestions, wrong parking etc.
The Deputy Commissioner went through all the demands and directed the concerned quarters for needful.
