SRINAGAR, Aug 6: Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Armed, S M Sahai today felicitated the ace mountaineer for successfully conquering Mt Menthosa earlier in the month of July.
Congratulating the mountaineer for the landmark achievement, he said that J&K Police is always keen to include best talent in the organization and for this it has been organizing talent hunt competitions in different sports disciplines across the State.
Stanzin Youthog is an employee of Jammu and Kashmir Armed Police, who became the first lady mountaineer from the State to successfully conquer 6443m high Mount Menthosa in Lahaul and Spiti, Himachal Pradesh. Stanzin was one amongst the 11 member lady team sponsored by Indian Mountaineering Federation (IMF) for All India Women Expedition to Mt Menthosa.
The Expedition was flagged off on July 15, 2014, which apart from the participants of Jammu and Kashmir, included women participants from Himachal Pradesh, Delhi, Sikkim, Uttarkhand, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Arunachal Pradesh.
The 27-year-old, Youthog, born in village Saboo, Leh after passing 12th standard underwent basic advance mountaineering course in 2004 from Nehru Institute of Mountaineering Uttarkashi. She joined J&K Police as a constable in 2009.
Stanzin in her quests has successfully conquered Shivling peak located in Utarkashi and Bhagirati peak-II earlier.
