JAMMU, Mar 17: Central Water Sports Team of Jammu and Kashmir Police bagged silver medal in the 2nd National River Rafting Championship held in Chenab River at Reasi.
Jammu and Kashmir Police Central Water Sports Team outplayed BSF, ITBP and Indian Air Force to end up with silver in the 200m Sprint event. The team finished second while Indian Army stood 1st to bag gold in the event.
The Championship organized by Jammu and Kashmir Tourism Department witnessed participation of more than 15 teams that included teams of Indian Army, Air Force, BSF, ITBP, Echo-Adventure, Ladakh Water Sports Club, Jammu Tourism, Kashmir Tourism and other local teams of the State. The competitions were inaugurated on 10th of this month.
Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Armed, J&K, Lalat Indu Mohanti, today felicitated the members of Central Water Sports Team for their performance in the prestigious National Championship.
He hoped that the players will play to best of their potential and bring laurels in future not only to organization and State but to nation as well.
While interacting with peddlers, he said that team spirit, coordination and understanding among the players are pivotal to get desired results in National Level events.
Among others, the felicitation ceremony was attended by Javed Iqbal Mattoo, SSP, Staff Officer to ADGP Armed, Kuldeep Handoo, Sports Officer J&K Police, Imran Iqbal, Sports Coordinator and players of J&K Police Water Sports team that included Farooq Ahmad (Chief Coach JKP Water Sports team), Zahoor Ahmad, Parvaiz, Showkat, Feroz, Altaf, Firdous and Imran.
