SRINAGAR, Sept 27: Skipper Omar Alam led from the front by scalping 3 important wickets and Adil Showkat made magnificent 68 runs to help Ghani Gliders (Zaina Kadal) register yet another important win, sixth overall in only seven games, in the ongoing Downtown Champions League (DCL) against a timid-looking Kashmir Super Kings (Badam Wari) at Islamia College Ground, here today. With this victory, Gliders have taken the top spot on the Points Table with 12 points.
The KSK’s skipper Suhail won the toss and elected to bat first but the decision backfired him as his team managed paltry 128/6 in allotted 20 overs. Imtiyaz Malla was impressive with his knock of 44 off 36 balls, while Manzoor chipped in with sedate 29 runs off 33 balls.
After their first defeat against Baba Reshi Lions (Khanyar) at the same venue, Ghani Gliders’ captain Omar Alam looked a different man on the field as he took three important wickets conceding only 22 runs in four overs to peg back his opponents in KSK.
Gliders’ batsmen chased the target in just 17.2 overs losing only two wickets. Adil Showkat remained top scorer with a responsible innings of 68 off 53 balls, while Dr Sajjad smashed power-packed 45 runs in 33 balls.
The award for hitting maximum sixes was shared by Dr Sajjad and Imtiyaz Malla, while best bowler award went to Omar Alam and the player of the match and best batsman awards were received by Adil Showkat.
