MENDHAR, Dec 22: The District Administration Poonch today provided Rs one lakh as compensation and Rs 10,000 financial assistance from the District Red Cross Fund to the family of 7th class student Shahnawaz Khan of Balakote, who succumbed to injuries in GMC hospital on Monday.
After strong criticism by the media, the Govt today after the death of this hapless firing victim, tried to correct its mistake and deputed Tehsildar Mendhar Salam Din and Tehsildar Balakote Shahzad Khan to the house of the victim to hand over the compensation. This boy was critically injured on August 15, 2015 during Pak shelling at village  Darati in Balakote. Since then, this family was not provided any relief or help by the Govt despite tall claims by BJP and PDP leaders. The father of the deceased, Iftihar  refused to accept the help from Govt and said where was the `Govt’ and Administration in last over four months. His son was allowed to die. Why action was not taken by Chief Minister, Chief Secretary  and Divisional  Commissioner against the erring officials. He said this money  will not return his son to the family.
