Adventure Trekking Expedition held

JAMMU, Nov 15: An Adventure Trekking Expedition was undertaken from Mcleodganj to Chamba Valley via Indrahar Pass by a team of 3rd Battalion, Madras Regiment.
The Expedition team comprised of one Officer, one Junior Commissioned Officer and 15 other ranks.
The Expedition was undertaken to infuse the spirit of sportsmanship, encourage adventure activities and venerate the Regiment’s long association with adventure activities.
The Expedition was flagged-off by the General Officer Commanding, Gurj Division.
The expedition team traversed a distance of 150 kilometers during this period, passing through the mountainous terrain of Chamba Valley along the foothills of Mcleodganj at heights ranging from 1643m to 4370m, covering areas that were glaciated and snowbound.
During the 10 days trek, the team also visited the local villages and enhanced their awareness about the Indian Army, exhorted the locals to preserve the flora and fauna of the picturesque Dhauladhar Ranges and encouraged them to keep the pristine hills clean as part of “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’.
The Expedition was conducted successfully and was flagged in by the General Officer Commanding, Gurj Division.
