LEH, Feb 14: The 1st Union Territory Level Bankers Committee meeting was held today under the Chairmanship of Umang Narula, Advisor to Lt Governor of UT Ladakh, who reviewed the performance of the banks in various Government sponsored schemes.
Commissioner Secretary Rigzin Sampheal, General Manager SBI Binod Kumar Mishra, Deputy Commissioner Sachin Kumar Vaishya, directors of various line departments and the representatives of various banks operating in Leh and Kargil district were also present during the meeting.
The Advisor reviewed the performance of the various banks vis a vis the target allotted to them in the Annual Credit Plan and under various Government sponsored schemes.
As the banks have achieved Rs 547.08 crore against the target of Rs 811.85 crore which amounts to 67.39% ending September 2019, the chair emphasized on reaching out to all the unbanked villages and to cover them under the ambit of financial inclusion and various social security schemes. He also emphasized on timely achievement of targets.
Commissioner Secretary Finance directed all the banks to conduct loan melas and financial literacy camps and also to use various media to spread awareness. The chair directed NABARD and KVIC to set up offices in Ladakh as early as possible and directed all the private banks to contribute in extending Stand Up India (SUI), Mudra Loans and other priority sector lending thereby contributing in the development of the economy of Union Territory of Ladakh.
