POONCH, Sept 8: Advisor to Governor K Vijay Kumar today took stock of the developmental and security scenario in Poonch during his day-long visit to the border district.
Advisor held separate meetings with the local Legislators, civil and police administration and met several public delegations to have first hand information about the developmental and security issues of the area.
In his meeting with MLA Poonch Shah Mohammad Tantray, MLC Pradeep Sharma and MLC Yashpal Sharma, the Advisor was apprised of issues including vacancies of medical staff, augmentation of bed capacity in District Hospital Poonch, requirement of Bullet Proof Ambulances for evacuation of injured during cross-border firing, inclusion of Poonch Town in ALC category, weak mobile connectivity in Poonch, construction of Loran to Tangmar road, demand for GDC at Mandi, Indoor Stadium at Mandi, by pass road for Poonch flood protection works etc.
Advisor assured that all the demands will be looked into and some of these have already been discussed with the Governor.
He also met various public delegations from across the district. The delegations included representatives from civil society, Bar Association Poonch, Bus Stand Union, students of GDC Poonch and border residents.
Students of GDC Poonch demanded affiliation of PG Urdu, Arabic and expansion of College due to high number of students. Demand of Women College and GDC at Mandi was also raised. Other demands included upgradation of road from Jammu to Poonch, completion of Mini Secretariat, setting up of University Campus at Poonch, laying of Jammu Poonch Railway Line, regularisation of SPOs and augmentation of water and power supply.
Advisor also took a detailed review of the developmental scenario in the district with a meeting of the district administration.
DC Poonch Rahul Yadav informed the Advisor of the status of developmental works and progress under various central schemes.
Advisor reviewed the performance and status of Health, Education, Forest, PWD, PMGSY, Tribal Affairs, Youth Services and Sports besides other departments.
He was informed about the vacancies in Health Department to which he informed the meeting about the cabinet’s decision for speedy recruitment of doctors across the State.
Major issues raised in the meeting included as 132KV transmission line, requirement of funds for installation of 50 MVA Transmission Transformer at Draba, completion of indoor stadium and Boxing ring in sports stadium and indoor stadium at Mandi.
Advisor instructed all district officers for maximum interaction with public so that benefits reach to each and every person.
He also held meeting with top brass of Police, Army, BSF, CRPF in SSP Office to review the overall security scenario in the district.
Advisor also visited the border area of Maltigate and received first-hand knowledge of border fencing and Border posts.
