JAMMU, May 16: For implementation of Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016, the Government has accorded sanction for constitution of a State level Advisory Body.
Headed by the Administrative Secretary, Housing and Urban Development Department, the Advisory Body shall review the matters related to implementation of Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016, State policy and strategy on Solid Waste Management and give advise to the State Government for taking measures that are necessary for expeditious and appropriate implementation of these rules. It shall act as a monitoring committee for proper implementation of directions of National Green Tribunal and Solid Waste Management Rules, 2016.
The Advisory Body shall be comprising Labour Commissioner, Director Agriculture Kashmir, Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation, Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Chief Town Planner Jammu/Kashmir, Member Secretary State Pollution Control Board and representatives of the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Revenue Department, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (GoI), Ministry of Urban Development (GoI), Ministry of Rural Development ( GoI), Central Pollution Control Board (GoI), National Institute of Technology, Srinagar, Local Bodies, Directorate of Census Operations, J&K, reputed NGOs working for waste picker or informer recycler or Solid Waste Management, Industrial sector of the State, waste Recycling Industry and two subject experts, one each recommended by Jammu University and Kashmir University.
