AEMC to prevent bird strikes at Airport

JAMMU, Oct 15:  For maintaining environment cleanliness within a radius of 10 to 15 kilometers around the Jammu Airport to prevent bird strike during aircrafts’ approach take off, the State Government has constituted an Airfield Environment Management Committee (AEMC).
Headed by Divisional Commissioner Jammu as its Chairman , the committee shall suggest effective measures for disposal of liquid and solid waste, removal of unauthorized slums, catering houses, butteries, garbage dumps etc, located in the vicinity of Jammu Airport.
The committee members comprise Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation; Regional Director of State Pollution Control Board; Airport Director, Jammu Airport; Director Health Services, Jammu; representative of AOC, Indian Air force; Chief Executive Officer, Cantonment Board, Jammu; representatives of Forest Department and Wild Life Department.
