AG Office team among nine advance to next stage

SRINAGAR, June 16: AG Office Football team was among nine which advanced to the next stage of the State Football Championship, being organised by J&K State Sports Council and J&K Bank Limited at Bakshi Stadium and Polo Ground, here today.
In the first match of the day, AG’s Office Football team thrashed DFA Doda by ten goals to zero (10-0). Shahnwaz of AG office football club netted the goal in the 5th minute, while Umer Alam scored back to back goals in 7th and 9th minutes. Sameer pelted the goals in 13th and 18th minute, Kahlid Qayoom in 22nd minute, Riyaz in 39th and 44th minute, while Waseem and Showkat in 49th and 65th minutes respectively.
In the second match, Saffalo ‘A’ defeated DFA Ladakh XI by 7-0 goals in a one sided match.  Niyaz and Mohd Rafiq scored two goals each, while Zubair, Naveed, Javeed scored one goal apiece.
In the third match, DFA Ganderbal XI crushed DFA Kishtwar XI by a solitary goal, whereas in the fourth match, DFA Kulgam faced defeat from DFA Udhampur by 2-1 goals.
In the fifth match, DFA Badgam XI thrashed DFA Kathua XI via tie breaker with 5-3 goals, whereas, in the sixth match, played DFA Samba XI defeated DFA Poonch XI via tie breaker by 7-6 goals.
In the seventh match, DFA Pulwama XI routed DFA Reasi XI by 2-1 goals.  Zahoor Ahmad of DFA Pulwama netted the first goal in 14th minute, which was equalized by Atul Mehra in the 43rd minute. Zahid Shafi scored the winning goal for DFA Pulwama in 65th minute and paved way for his team to sail into the next round of the tourney.
In the eighth match, Young Mahraja Club defeated DFA Kargil by 5-1 goals. Faqir of Young Maharaja Club, while exhibiting his skills netted three goals in 5th, 16th and 32nd minute, while Suhail and Mushtaq scored one goal each in 3rd and 20th minute. Ali Asgar of DFA Kargil was the lone scorer.
In the nineth match, DFA Bandipora smashed DFA Rajouri by straight six goals to zero. Tousef and Arif Gul scored two goals each, while Ramez and Nasir netted one goal each.
In the championship teams from all the 22 districts of the State, top clubs and teams of Supper Division are taking part.
