JAMMU, Jan 22: Director General Youth Services and Sports, Navin Agarwal finalized various programmes in connection with the celebration of Republic Day after an on-spot visit at MA Stadium, here today.
For the main parade to be held at MA Stadium, the contingents of NCC and Scouts & Guides will be taking part, besides the contingents of Uniformed Forces.
He said, the March Past includes contingents of eight girls schools and eight boys schools of around 35 students each, adding that two boys band troops and four girl band troops will also follow the band contingents of Army, BSF and Police.
Twenty one schools have been selected for the March Past which include J&K Police Public School, Lord Shiva Ghou Manhasan, Govt GHS Janipur, Govt GHSS Nawabad, Govt GHSS Bakshi Nagar, Govt GHSS Satwari, Govt GHSS Mubarak Mandi, Govt Girls HSS Canal Road, Govt Hari Singh HSS, Shiksha Niketan Jeevan Nagar, Govt SRML HSS, Govt HSS Paloura, HSS Bakshi Nagar, HSS Gandhi Nagar, HS Satwari, Carmel Convent HS, May Fair HSS, Dewan Devi HSS, GHS City Chowk, GHS Dogra Hall and GHS Kacchi Chawani.
A galaxy of cultural programmes were selected by the committee headed by Mr Agarwal and prominent among these include Jawala Se Jalti by GHSS Canal Road, Hai Tujhe Salaam India by Presentation Convent and Guldasta (Mixture of Dogri, Kashmiri and Ladakhi) by Govt GHSS Shastri Nagar.
Mr Agarwal also reviewed a physical display of mega event of DYSS, titles ‘Bharatiyam Remix’ in which over 1300 children from 17 schools are participating.
The other attractions of the celebrations include Army weapon and equipment display, Motor cycle acrobatic display and four tableaux on save water save life, Beti Bachao Beti Parhao, Swachh Bharat Mission and Forest Conservation.
