SRINAGAR, May 6: Director General, Youth Services and Sports (YSS), Navin Aggarwal today distributed cricket and other sports kits among various educational institutions of Srinagar, Budgam, Ganderbal, Pulwama, Shopian, Anantnag and Kulgam districts, here.
The programme was organised by Joint Director, YSS Kashmir, Madan Lal; Principal, Physical College Ganderbal, Hartej Singh and Accounts Officer, Directorate of YSS, Abdul Rehman and was attended by Lecturers, Masters and Teachers in Physical Education of Srinagar, Budgam, Ganderbal, Pulwama, Shopian, Anantnag and Kulgam districts.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr Aggarwal stressed upon the officers of Education and Youth Services and Sports Departments to work in unison and maintain close coordination for the promotion of sports activities among students.
The Director General said that efforts are afoot to improve the sports infrastructure in all educational institutions of the State, adding Government has already declared physical education compulsory from 6th to 10th standard and the formulation of a befitting syllabus in this regard is already underway.
Earlier, the Joint Director YSS Kashmir Division presented welcome address and highlighted the activities of the department.
Various representatives of educational institutions put forth their difficulties and problems confronting them in promoting sports activities in their respective institutions.
