JAMMU, July 7: Intensifying their 31-day long agitation for a regularization policy, Polytechnic academic arrangement staff today torched their academic degrees to show resentment against the Government’s alleged callous attitude towards their genuine demand.
The academic arrangement termed their educational qualifications as ‘useless’ for them since the Government has no seriousness towards such highly qualified staff.  They accused Government of acting as mute spectators on their genuine issues

The protest was led by Atul Sudan, president of All Jammu Kashmir Polytechnics Academic Arrangements Association (AJKPAA) and supported by all the academic arrangement of all 24 Polytechnics from Jammu and Kashmir.  In Kashmir division   also, the academic arrangement are on the protest, which is being led by Shahnawaz Qadir (president AJKPAA, Kashmir)
Expressing disappointment, Atul Sudan said that their higher education qualification means nothing to the Government, which was exploiting carrier of such highly qualified youth.  He said that they are the real back bone of the Technical Education Department but being neglected and made to sit on the roads for their demands.
Neha Dhar, an aggrieved Academic Arrangement, explained that they are continuously working for the last 10-15 years in the department and were selected on merit basis through proper selection process and on clear vacancies.  She said that the department never advertised posts in between and hence many of them had now crossed upper age limit for applying for job.
Umesh Gupta said that there are 328 vacant posts in Polytechnics where as the number of academic arrangements was only around 225. He stressed that the Government should immediately come up with a suitable regularization policy for the academic arrangements so that they can resume their regular class work.
Others who addressed the protest demonstration, included Ankush Gupta, Sanjeev Choudary, Tarun Gupta, Umesh Gupta, Vicky Sharma, Kanav Gupta, Ajay Chib, Rakesh Bhatt, Atul Kodhi, Gagan Partap, Harmeet Kour, Renu Kotwal, Monika Baloria, Pooja Gupta, Renuka Rajput, Noshiba, Ruchi Gupta, Shivali Sharma, Narrotam Sharma, Neena Gupta, Himani Dubey, Sunil Bhatti, Archana Razdan, Bhawana, Vidhu Puri, Dupinder, Neha, Deepakshi, Chanderdeep and Pankaj Gupta.
