SRINAGAR, June 1: Students from Army Goodwill Public School, Pahalgam brought laurels to Kashmir Valley by bagging gold, silver and bronze medals in Sub-Junior and Junior National Muaythai Championship at Jaipur in Rajasthan.
A defence spokesman said the event was organised by Muaythia Association of Rajasthan in which 550 participants from 25 States had participated.
“Twelve students from AGPS Pahalgam had also participated in the event in various age categories. Under-12 yrs category Manan Javed bagged a gold medal and Under -14 yrs category Manan Mir and Jazim Aslam clinched gold and silver medals respectively. Under -17 yrs category school students bagged 3 silver and 2 bronze medals. Total tally of medals won by AGPS Pahalgam were 2 gold medals, 3 silver and 3 bronze,” he said.
He said this event gave the participating students of AGPS, Pahalgam a good exposure at a National level event. “Ajaz Hassan, martial arts teacher, trained and guided the students for this event. Army has planned more events on similar lines which provide opportunities to the children to show case their talent at National level,” he added.
