AIBCU organizes day-long convention, discusses issues of OBCs

SAMBA, Apr 24: All India Backward Classes Union (Social) organized a one day convention of its delegates under the chairmanship of its president, Abdul Majid Malik, here at BDO office Community Hall, Vijaypur.
Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh was the chief guest while Cabinet Minister, Chander Parkash Ganga, was the guest of honour. Speakers were mostly the district presidents from Jammu province, except, Sajaad Hussain, district president, South Kashmir.
While speaking on the occasion, Prof Kali Dass gave detailed information about the sufferings of the State OBCs (Called OSCs in J&K) which included non-implementation of Apex Court’s Judgement of 1992 on Mandal Report, non enhancement of creamy layer from Rs 4.5 lakh to Rs 6 lakh, non-renewal of OSC certificate on the basis of Income certificate and issuing one and only certificate on the name of OBC instead of OSC.
Abdul Majid Malik, while speaking on the occasion, demanded meaningful functioning of Backward Classes Commission (BCC), which has no chairman since its inception in 1995 while the members are appointed in an arbitrary manner. He said that this type of BCC is only to stop the natural flow of justice with lucrative benefits to the favourites.
He further expressed his resentment for not making functional in the past one year the State OBC Advisory and Development Board.  He also raised the issue of grave violation of Article 50(6) in the State under which three OBC MLCs are mandatory.
It was unanimously appealed to Deputy Chief Minister to fulfill the promises with the State OBCs made during the elections. In the end, the union appealed the Government through Dr Nirmal Singh to redress the long pending demands of the State OBCs without any further delay.
The Deputy Chief Minister as well as the Cabinet Minister also shared their views and assured for all help to redress the issues of OBCs.
