JAMMU, Dec 13: Air Force School, Jammu celebrated its Annual Sports Day with great pomp and show in the Station Polo Ground, here today.
The chief guest on the occasion was Maj General Ashwani Kumar, GOC, Tiger Division and Vandana Sharma, Chairperson of Family Welfare Organization, Tiger Division, while the guest of honour were Air Commodore P E Patenge, YSM VM, AOC, Air Force Station Jammu and Mamta Pantange, president AFWWA (L).
The dignitaries were received by Flt Lt Karishma Sethi, Officer In Charge, Air Force School Jammu and Vikesh Sandhal, Principal, Air Force School, Jammu.
The guard of honour was presented by the Scouts and Guides Contingent of the School.
In the welcome address, Mr Sandhal highlighted the achievements of the school.
Shubam Manhas and Pooja Choudhary, Sports Captains ran a lap round the field with the traditional torch. Ria Jamwal, School Captain took the oath of unity and integrity on behalf of all the competitors.
Soon after the ground resonated with the echo of the Air Force School song composed by music maestro AR Rehman.
Apart from the track events, the spectators were captivated by the cultural items presented by the students. Bhangra by the senior students and the saga of the Patriotic item won the hearts of the audience. The grand finale presented by the students, was applauded by one and all.
The absorbing races among the six houses were hugely cheered by the students and parents. Parents were also invited to participate in sports events. Students were seen cheering for their parents.
The March Past was led by the Head Boy of the school Rishav Bali. Chief guest and the guest of honour gave away prizes to the winners.
