SRINAGAR, June 10: Air India Football Club defeated ONGC Football Club by two goals to one (2-0) in the summit clash to win the title trophy of the Kashmir Invitational Football Cup 2014, here today.
Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Youth Services and Sports, Raman Bhalla and Minister for Helath and Medical Education, Taj Mohi-ud-Din were the chief guests on the valedictory function, who distributed prizes among the winners and runners-up teams.
The Ministers were introduced to the members of the organizing committee and the players of the final match on the occasion.
Earlier, Kalash Patail of Air India FC pelted the first goal in the 5th minute of the match to give his side an early lead. The first half ended with (1-0) in favour of Air India. However, ONGC came back strongly in the second half and N D Opera scored an equalizer in the 68th minute of the match.
ONGC increased the lead when Vivek Singh netted another goal in the 68th minute of the match to finally win by (2-1) goals.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Secretary J&K State Sports Council, Dalip Thussu, president J&K Football Association, Zameer A Thakur and Director Horticulture, Pawan Kumar.
