KATHUA, July 29: The Three Day Air Rifle / Air Pistol Championship organized by Kathua District Rifle Association in collaboration with KPS Shooting Club concluded here today.
Brig Anil Jain, Commander, 401 Ind Arty Brigade, Basholi Cantonment was the chief guest on the valedictory function, organized at Kartar Public School, Barnoti. Er. Nirmaljit Singh Amn, Chairman, Kartar Education Trust and Harpreet Kaur, Secretary-cum-Principal of KPS accorded warm reception to the chief guest. Kuldeep Singh Jamwal, President, J&K Rifle Association was the guest of honour. Others who shared the stage were Sohan Lal Sharma, Vice President, JKRA, Rakesh Sambyal, DySP (Indoor) PTTI, Vijaypur, Inspector Sharat Chander, Vice President, JKRA, Rajesh Virdhy, Shooting Coach of JKRA, Rajeev Sharma (APS), General Secretary and Tarun Sharma.
Brig. Anil Jain congratulated the organizers for promoting the sport of air rifle / pistol shooting. He complimented the management of Kartar Public School for investing in state of art of facilities and infrastructure.
The chief guest along with Mr Jamwal gave away the medals to the winners.
In Sub Junior Rifle (Men’s) category, Vasudev Sharma (KPS Club) won gold, Vikram Sharma (KPS Club) got silver and Amol Sharma (Little Angels) claimed bronze medal.
In Sub Junior Rifle (Women) Farhana Kausar (DAV Lachipur), Deepti Panotra (KPS Club) and Jhanvi Sharma (Sai International) won the gold, silver and bronze medals respectively, while in Sub Junior Pistol (Men) Sarthak Khadotra (KPS Club) clinched gold, Abhay Sambyal (JK Public School) won silver and Akarshak Randhawa (Sai International) claimed bronze medal.
In sub junior pistol (women) Jhanvi Punia, Deepakshi Bandral and Vishakha Thakur of APS bagged gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
In Youth Rifle Men’s category, Sukhbir Singh, (KPS Club) Karun Bhadwal (APS), and Abhinav Chandan (KPS Club) won gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
In Youth Rifle Women’s category, Charanpreet Kaur (KPS Club), Rupali Katal (KPS Club) and Mehak Gahloch (APS) won gold, silver and bronze respectively, while in Youth Pistol Men’s category, Anupam Ansh (KPS Club), Achyut Kumar (KPS Club) and Nitin Kumar (APS) bagged gold, silver and bronze medal respectively.
In Youth Pistol Women’s category, Muskaan (APS), Ahana Rajput (APS) and Surabhi (APS) secured gold, silver and bronze respectively.
In Junior Rifle Men’s category, Kamaljeet of Little Angels’ School bagged gold, while in Junior Rifle Women’s category, Mona Rajput (GDC Women) and Tania Gupta (GDC Women) won gold and silver medals respectively.
In Junior Pistol Men’s Category, Anshu Mehra (KPS Club) bagged the gold medal. In the Open Men’s category, Shivang Sharma (KPS Club) Nikhil Sharma (KPS Club) and Shivankar Sharma (Kathua district) bagged gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
In Open category (Women), Hemlata and Ekta Charak of KPS Club won gold and silver medals respectively, while in Pistol Open (Men’s) category, Varun Pratap Singh, (Kathua district), Sahil Singh (KPS Club) and Sushant Singh (KPS Club) bagged gold, silver and bronze medals respectively.
