JAMMU, June 29: Ajay Sharma of Landen Power House Udhampur won the 8th edition of the annual Sarna Dangal defeating Muneer Khan of Nagrota in the closely contested 23-minute long main bout at village Sarna in tehsil Katra, of district Reasi.
Winner of the main bout was given away Rs 6,000 cash prize while runners-up, Muneer got Rs 5,000.
The Dangal was organized by Sarna Dangal Committee in collaboration with J&K Indian Style Wrestling Association under the overall supervision of Association president, Shiv Kumar Sharma and president Dangal Committee, Som Raj Sharma.
President Sat Guru Kabir Sabha Reasi, Surinder Kumar Bhagat was chief guest, who gave away cash prizes. Former Joint Secretary of J&K State Sports Council, Shiv Kumar Sharma presided.
Social activist, Prabhat Singh (Mangali), Sarpanch Avinash Singh and Pandit Tara Chand were guests of honour. Prominent among those present were Onkar Singh, Rattan Singh, Baldev Raj, General Secretary of District Udhampur Indian Style Wrestling Association, Om Parkash Verma, chairman technical committee, Deepak Wazir and ASI Puran Chand.
In all, 45 bouts took place in this day-long dangal. The second main bout won by Tinku of Rohtak, who defeated Babba of Kot Bhalwal in Jammu to be awarded with Rs 5000 and Rs 3000 respectively. In third main bout, Dalbir Sing of Mahore beat Ami of Rohtak while fourth bout went to Vikas of Jind beating Murad Ali of Nagrota. The fifth bout won by Aditya of Jallandhar defeating Babbi of Basantgarh.
