Ajeet Club thrashes Youngster Club in inaugural tie

JAMMU, Nov 17: Ajeet Club, Gole Gujral and Youngster Club, Simble camp by four goals to three (403) in the inaugural tie of the Vijay Pal Memorial Hockey Tournament organised by Hockey J&K at Army field, Bandu Rakh.
In the first half of the match, Dilbagh Singh of Youngster Club pelted the opening goal in the 19th minute, whereas, Sukhwinder Singh and Charanjeet Singh netted two goals in 23rd and 39th minute.
In the second half, Ajeet Club made a come back and netted back to back goals in 51st, 52nd, 57th and 59th minute, thus putting a lead of one goal. The goals were netted by Satvir Singh, Sartaj Singh, Karanjit Singh and Jaspinder Singh.
After 59th minute, the players of both the teams strived hard to clinch the match, but the players of Ajeet Club, who were looking passionate did not gave any room to its opponent team and thus won the match by 4-3 goals.
In the second match, Shaheed Bhagat Singh Club trounced Cantt Star by a solitary goal. Gurpreet was the lone player who netted the goal in the 10th minute of the first half.
Earlier, the tournament was declared open by Colonel HDS Rainal, Adm Comdt, RT 26 Brigade, Kaluchak, in presence of MS Reen, Tournament Director, Jagjeet Singh, Jagjeet Singh Reen, local populace and sports lovers.
During the second match, SP Verma, president, Gandhi Global Family was the chief guest, while, Taran Singh, was guest of honour.
Among others present were Romail Singh, VK Kohli, GS Bakshi, Jagjeet Kour and Jaswant Singh.
In tomorrow fixture, Hiranagar Club will take on Bagh Bahian Club and Nanak Nagar Club will clash with Samba Hockey Club.
