JAMMU, Feb 25: All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference, an amalgam of elected Panchs and Sarpanchs of Jammu and Kashmir has held the State Government responsible for the killing of Javed Ahmad Wani, who was shot dead by militants in Baramulla yesterday.
The AJKPC leaders who met here today,  said that all the five killings of Panchayat representatives were caused due to the deliberate negligence of the State Government which itself wants to fail the constitutional institutions so that the issue of power sharing dies once for all.
While addressing the meeting, Shafiq Mir, chairman of the organization, alleged that there was no institution like Government in Jammu and Kashmir state and that was why the innocent elected people were dying helplessly. He said that AJKPC cannot see its people to die every day and will take a final decision soon in AJKPC’s executive body meeting. He alleged that despite repeated representations for security cover to the threatened Sarpanchs, Panchs the State Government did not take any action so that all the Panchayat members submit their resignations fearing their lives.
Anil Sharma, general secretary of the organization, said that all the MLAs, MPs, CM and Ministers of J & K should also surrender their security covers and feel the ground reality with regard to safety and security. Today not only 33000 Panchayat members are fearing risk to their lives but even their family members are also living under fear psychosis, he said.
