RAJOURI, May 28: Department of Sociology GDC Nowshera organized online essay writing competition on the topic “Gender Inequality” under the patronage of Principal Dr Surinder Kumar Sharma.
The event was organized under the auspices of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”.
The main aim of the competition was to end gender based discrimination, trafficking in women and girls, integration difficulties, under representation in politics and lack of access to basic services and so on.
A large number of students from various colleges of UT of Jammu and Kashmir participated in the said event.
Among the different participants from various colleges of UT of J&K, Akansha Sharma of GDC Kathua secured first position, Shreya Gumble of GDC Nowshera grabbed the second position while Ramneek Kour of GDC Nowshera was adjudged third.
The first, second and third position holders were rewarded with cash prize of Rs 300, Rs 200 and Rs 100 respectively.
The jury members of the competition were Prof Joginder Singh and Lecturer Rajni Sharma of GDC Nowshera.
The whole event was organized by Rajat Bhardwaj, Assistant Prof of Sociology.
