LEH, June 10: All Ladakh Bikers Association Cooperative Limited (ALBACL) will not allow the Himachali bikers to enter Ladakh in protest against keeping the Leh bikers hostage for days in Manali.
This was stated by President ALBACL Leh Tashi Chotak while addressing a press conference here today.
He added that few days back, 35 bikers from Leh were reportedly kept hostage for five days in Manali and now they will not allow the Himachali bikers to enter Ladakh. Leh bikers will also pick up their clients at Sarchu on Jammu and Kashmir–Himachal border in Ladakh, he said, adding that this decision has been conveyed to the Himachal bikers also.
He alleged that local bike renters are being harassed by Himachali bikers in Manali and Kelyong by taking them hostage for many days.
He said that Leh bikers lodged a report in this regard to SHO Leh and even SSP Leh, but nothing was done by them and only CEC, LAHDC, Leh Dr Dawa intervened in the issue.
Vice President Rinchen Angdu said that outsiders do 90 per cent of the business and locals only can do 10 per cent business. “We have no objection if a tourist comes to Leh with private vehicle or bike, but some big business giant are trying to snatch the bread butter of the locals, to which we object”, he added.
