Jammu, Nov 7: On the second day of the All India Inter-University Fencing (Men & Women) Championship 2024-25 saw intense competition across multiple categories, including Foil Individual (Men), Foil Individual (Women), Epee Individual (Women), and Sabre Individual (Men). The event is being hosted at the University Gymnasium Hall and organized by the Directorate of Sports & Physical Education, University of Jammu.
Rakesh Dubey , Joint Registrar for Banking & Finance with the J&K Government and a former national-level football player, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Accompanied by officials Dr. Daud Iqba Baba, Vimal Kishore, Rashid Ahmed Choudhary, and Vikas Karlopia, he interacted with the participants, encouraging them to showcase their best skills.
The competition witnessed remarkable performances from universities across India. Abinash from Guru Kashi University clinched the gold in the Foil Individual (Men) category, with Harshil Sharma from GNDU Amritsar securing silver. In the Foil Individual (Women) event, Waikhom Sonia Devi from Manipur University took the gold, while Naorem Mina Devi from Guru Kashi University earned silver.
For Epee Individual (Women), Prachi Lohan from C.R.S. University, Jind, emerged as the gold medalist, with Mitvabeen from GNDU Amritsar claiming silver. In the Sabre Individual (Men) category, Shinde Abhey from Dr. Babasaheb Marathwada University achieved gold, and Nikhil Wagh, also from Dr. Babasaheb Marathwada University, won silver.
