All India Painting Camp concludes

JAMMU, July 27: The  5-day All India Painting Camp, organized by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAAC) concluded here today.
The Camp was attended by 20 prominent artistes from different States of India, besides Jammu & Kashmir, who produced beautiful paintings at the Camp held at the picturesque Yousmarg Valley.
The concluding function was attended by Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjura. Secretary JKAACL, Dr. Aziz Hajini was also present on the occasion.
The Minister inaugurated the Painting Exhibition showcasing various shades of artistic creativity painted by the painters during the 5-day event.
Addressing a large gathering of writers and art lovers, Hanjura said that the holding of an All India Painting Camp at Yousmarg was historic and that it would promote tourist activity in the landlocked Yousmarg Valley.
Agreeing with the Secretary JKAACL for exploring the possibility of installation of illuminated electronic hoardings at the Charar-e- Sharief shrine, the minister promised to provide the necessary funding.
Earlier, in his welcome remarks, Secretary JKAACL, Dr Hajini said that the camp was a precursor to more such events in the area. Expressing his views Delhi based artist Gunjan Tyagi said that the holding of the painting camp was a great thing as it afforded opportunities to the artists to highlight the various shades of Kashmir.
During the 5-day long event art works highlighting the flood fury of 2014, natural beauty of Kashmir and the richness of valley’s landscape were painted.
Prominent among others who participated in the event included Akhilesh from Madhya Pradesh, Gunjan Tyagi from New Delhi, Bhup Singh Gulia from Haryana, Umesh Kumar from Lucknow, Gurcharan Singh from Kurukshetra, Dr. Mamta Singh from Dehradun, Prof. Mohiudin Gazali from New Delhi, Gokal Dembi from Jammu, Pratima Singh from New Delhi and Gagan Gambeer from Punjab.
