JAMMU, Aug 6: The All India Sainik Schools National Games Group-A Sports and Cultural Meet 2024 has commenced at Sainik School Nagrota here today.
The annual event features eight participating schools, including four Sainik Schools and four PPP model schools from Punjab, Haryana and Himachal Pradesh. Competitions include Hockey, Volleyball, Basketball, Athletics, and Cultural events. Notably, this year marks the first participation of girl cadets in the IX-X category.
The inaugural ceremony took place at Major Somnath Sharma PVC stadium, with Bhupinder Kumar, Administrative Secretary of Public Works, declaring the meet open. Captain (IN) Shibu Devasia, Principal of Sainik School Nagrota, emphasized sportsmanship and excellence in his address. The meet aims to enhance sports skills, promote unity, and build national pride among students.
