JAMMU, Mar 12: Jammu’s boy Aman Gupta finished Ironman Dubai 70.3-which is one of a series of long distance triathlon races, organised by World Triathlon Corporation (WTC) at Dubai on March 5.
The ‘70.3’ refers to the total distance in miles (113.0 km) covered in the race, consisting of a 1.2-mile (1.9 km) swim, a 56-mile (90 km) bike ride, and a 13.1-mile (21.1 km) run. The time needed by an athlete to complete a 70.3 distance event varies from race to race and can be influenced by external factors.
Aman Gupta son of Aekta and Arvind Gupta has been practicing for triathlon for the last two years under the guidance of his coach Kaustubh Radkar from Pune. Ironman Dubai is held once a year with athletes participating from the entire world.
Aman Gupta briefed that the conditions in Dubai were tough as all the practice was done in winter, whereas the temperature in Dubai was above 30 degree Celsius.
He appealed that the Government should support the sportsperson in such events in terms of providing dedicated running tracks, dedicated cycling paths as well as an operational swimming pool in the UT.
He thanked the family members, friends, colleagues and my Company AM Hyundai and AM Tata for supporting me in this cause.
