JAMMU, Oct 21: A brilliant batting display by Aman and a superb bowling show by Praful Dhar helped Col RN Chopra Academy Yellow to outplay Sidhant Cricket Academy in a thrilling contest by 1 wicket in the ongoing Col RN Chopra Challenge Cup, being held at Academy Grounds, here.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Sidhant Academy scored a paltry total of 62 runs in the stipulated 16 overs, losing 9 wickets in the process. Abhay was the top scorer with 8 runs, while Cherian and Prateek contributed 7 runs each. For Academy Yellow, off-spinner Praful Dhar was the wrecker-in-chief who scalped 4 wickets by conceding 11 runs in his 4 overs, while Pranav Raina took 2 wickets and Ayush Pratap and Mavneek claimed 1 wicket each.
Academy Yellow, in reply chased the target in 15.3 overs by losing 9 wickets. Aman was the star performer, who scored valuable 15 runs at the crucial juncture and took his team to home in an exciting contest. He hit 3 magnificent boundaries in his brief but match winning knock. Anivardan was the other contributor who remained unbeaten on 7 runs. For Sidhant Academy, Karmanya and Prayush bagged 2 wickets each, while Abhay claimed one wicket. Aman and Praful were declared joint winners of man of the match.
Five teams are participating in this Under-12 boys tournament, in which RN Chopra Academy Green and Academy Yellow have qualified for the finals, while in Under-14 boys tournament, Stadium XI will take on Academy Blue in the final. Under-16 boys tournament of this ongoing Col RN Chopra Challenge Cup will commence soon.
The tournament is being held under the supervision of Rakesh Basin, Zabeer Ahmad, Sukomal Ganguly and Deepak Dogra.
