AMRITSAR, Aug 31: Amandeep Group of Hospitals and RM Aesthetics organized a 2-day symposium with the name “Aesthetic Symposium on Facial Rejuvenation” here today.
Leading plastic and cosmetic surgeons of the country participated in the symposium while Dr Ramesh Sharma, former president, APSI, Prof and Head, Department of Plastic Surgery, PGI Chandigarh and Dr Lakshjeet Dhami, president, Indian Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons of India, attended the inaugural event as the chief guests.
This symposium discussed the modalities of face rejuvenation. Speaking on the occasion, Dr Ravi Mahajan, organizing chairman and Chief Plastic and Cosmetic Surgeon, Amandeep Group of Hospitals said that sunlight, skin disorders, aging, present day diet and even heredity can contribute to skin irregularities on the face and elsewhere on the body. These include textural irregularities like wrinkles and acne scars, pigmentation changes like freckles, sunspots or visible blood vessels. In addition, skin may lose tone, feels less firm and lose the healthy glow that is evident in younger skin.
He said that different treatment modalities are available to treat the different aspects of skin damage. Laser resurfacing, mechanical resurfacing, chemical peels and injectable products can improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles of the entire face or those that develop in specific regions of the face, such as the upper lip and around the eyes. These treatments can also be used to address pigmentation disorders, such as sun and age spots, and they can be used to improve the appearance of acne scars or other skin conditions.
While explaining surgical procedures, he said there are many small surgeries viz rhinoplasty, blepharoplasty, face lift, bro lift which can totally change the look while there are non-surgical modalities also viz. lasers, mechanical means, chemical peeling and injecting medicines. Additionally, plastic & cosmetic surgery can be exclusively applied to the face or any part of the body if needed, such as lips, cheeks. With modern methods such as Botox, soft tissue fillers, chemical peels, threads, and lasers, the face can now be beautified without surgery.
Dr Ameesha Mahajan, organizing secretary, welcomed the delegates and delivered her lecture about dermatological issues and their solution for face rejuvenation.
