JAMMU : Bharatiya Janata Party national president Amit Shah, who is here on two-day visit, today met the people affected by Pakistani firing and shifted to safer places in Ranbir Singh Pura area of this winter capital.
Mr Shah flanked by Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office Jitendra Singh this morning met people, who were taking a temporary shelter in view of cross border firing at Government Higher Secondary School R S Pura and other government buildings. The BJP stalwart told the bordering people that BJP and the Modi-led government at the Centre understand their problem and they are with them.
He said the Home Ministry has also allowed the BSF to give befitting reply to the Pak firing.
Mr Shah also accused the state government for not understanding the miseries of the people in the bordering belts. A group of BJP activists and National Conference workers, meanwhile, clashed in R S Pura ahead of Mr Shah’s visit. Some of the BJP leaders and activists objected the visit of NC leader and candidate from Suchetgarh constituency T S Tony along with his supporters at the venue where Mr Shah had to visit. The NC activists also raised anti-BJP and anti-Amit Shah slogans, which led to clash but police intervened and took control of the situation.
