JAMMU, Apr 25: Rai Bahadur Jodhamal Kuthiala scholarships for the year 2018 were distributed in an impressive function at Jodhamal School, here.
Prof Amitabh Mattoo, Advisor to Chief Minister, was the chief guest on the occasion, while Secretary Education, Farooq Ahmed Shah was the guest of honour. Director Education, Rakesh Srangal, Joint Director Education, Charandeep Singh, CEO Jammu, J K Sudan and CEO Samba, Ram Pal Bal also attended the function.
The programme started by invoking the Gods with a wonderful choreographed Krishan Leela by the junior students of Jodhamal School.
Scholarship of Rs10,000 each were presented to meritorious girl students studying in class 11th of Govt. Schools of border areas of Jammu Province.
8 girls each from the border areas of Jammu, Samba, Poonch, Kathua and Rajouri districts were awarded the scholarships.
Also Jodhamal School has adopted three Govt. schools namely Govt. High School, Deeli, Govt. Primary School, Sainik Colony, Jammu & Govt. Primary School, Prithvipur for the past few years.
Students from these adopted schools presented street plays on ‘Beti Bacho Beti Padao’ and Kismat themes prepared by Jodhamal Teachers.
Prof Mattoo appreciated the gesture of giving scholarships to the girls from remote/ border areas of Jammu province, also remarked at the amazing street plays performed by the students of these three adopted Govt. schools.
Emphasizing the importance of making education system more process driven, Advisor to Chief Minister Prof Amitabh Mattoo today said that learning outcomes and rankings should not be the only parameters to judge the quality of education and stressed on adopting innovative methods for developing joyful learning and creativity in students.
Trustee of Jodhamal School, Nandan Kuthiala presented vote of thanks, while Principal of the School, Trilok Singh Bist earlier presented welcome address.
