Anand returns home to warm reception with world crown

Indian chess wizard Viswanathan Anand returned to his home to a grand welcome here tonight, from Moscow after bagging his fifth world title, defending it for the third time in a row.
Anand, who arrived at the international aiport along with his wife, was warmly received by his proud parents Sushila and Viswanathan. His one-and-a-half-year old son Akhil also received his dad who gave him a warm hug.
Anand returned home three days after bagging the world crown yet again, as he had been missing his son, who was under the care of his in-laws for the the last six months when Anand left for the world title challenge match against Boris Gelfand. FIDE Vice President D V Sundar, AICF President and the ruling AIADMK MLA J C D Prabhakaran and Chairman of Velammal Educational institutions, which have been encouraging chess, Velmohan, were among those who welcome Anand home at the airport reception.
He defeated Boris Gelfand of Israel in the rapid chess tie break after, after the 12 games in the classical format, failed to produce a result. (UNI)
