JAMMU, Dec 4: Anant Rohmetra, Divyanshu, Jai bhardwaj, Akhilesh Malguria, Rajdeep and Hanumant crushed their rivals and registered their berth in the next round of 35th Edition of Jammu District Table Tennis Championship, which gets underway at MA Stadium here today.
In the first match (Cadet category), Anant Rohmetra thrashed Kashis by 2-1 sets. In the first set, Anant Rohmetra emerged winner by 11-8, but failed to continue his winning momentum and lost the second set by 8-11. In the decider set, Anant Rohmetra with his attacking skills trounced Kashis by 11-7 and qualified for the next round.
In the second match, Divyanshu defeated Amratanshu by straight 2-0 sets. In the first set, Divyanshu crushed Amratanshu by 11-4, whereas in the second set, Amratanshu again failed to resist the attacking strategy of Divyanshu and faced defeat by 11-2.
In the third match, Jai Bhardwaj stunned Tanish by 2-0 sets. In the first set, Jai Bhardwaj registered victory by 11-04 over Tanish, whereas in the second set, Tanish again faced defeat by 11-06 and paved way for Jai Bhardwaj to enter into the next stage of the championship.
Akhilesh Malguria trounced Sudikshan by straight 2-0 sets in the fourth match. Akhilesh routed Sudikshan in both the sets by 11-3 and 11-9.
In the sixth match, Rajdeep registered win over Aryamik by 2-0 sets. In the first set, Rajdeep with his attacking skills registered win over Aryamik by 11-7 and in the second set, enthusiastic Rajdeep again trounced Aryamik by 11-3.
In the last match of the day, Hanumant beat Saurabh by straight 2-0 sets. In the first set, Hanumant thrashed Saurabh by 11-7 and in the second set, Saurabh could not understand the playing strategy of Hanumant and thus lost the set by 11-3.
Earlier, the Championship was declared open by VK Magoo, Working President of J&K Table Tennis Association.
In the championship, around 150 participants are participating.
