JAMMU, Nov 11: Talented young peddlers, Anant Rohmetra and Iknoor Kour became champions in cadet boys and girls events of the 36th J&K Stag State Table Tennis Championship, organized by J&K Table Tennis Association at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here.
In cadet boys’ summit clash, Anant got better of promising Hanumant Sharma by (10-12, 11-9, 11-9, 9-11, 11-7) to emerge champion, while in cadet girls, Iknoor prevailed over Archita Kesar by (11-9, 9-11, 11-9) to win the title.
Earlier, sub junior girls semifinals, Jhanvi beat Archita Kesar by (11-7, 11-8), while Sreya drubbed Ashmeet by (11-7,11-4).
In junior boys 1st and 2nd round, Divyam prevailed over Waheed by (11-6,11-7), Baljeet defeated Shivam Goel by (11-3,11-8), Fasil Mir beat Khubabib by (11-3,11-2), Ketan trounced Manney by (11-2,11-8), Ritvik Mahajan beat Ninad by (11-7,11-9), Anuj Gupta outplayed Shivam Jain by (11-7,11-5), Arnav outplayed Tanish by (11-4,11-7), Kanav Mahajan thrashed Utkarsh by (11-5,11-4), Adhiraj prevailed over Shivam Mahajan by (11-7,11-7), Amrit Koul defeated Abheed by (11-6,11-6), Danish beat Husnain by (11-7,11-6), Sudhanshu trounced Ansh Gupta by (11-4,13-11), Aman outclassed Nipun Mahajan by (11-9,13-11), Rajbeer Singh drubbed Aman Gupta by (11-7,11-3), Asad beat Anirudh by (11-7,11-8), Akhilesh defeated Arush by (11-3,11-7), Hanumant got better of Kanit by (7-11,11-7,11-8) and Naman defeated Sudikshan by (11-8,11-6).
Prof Bashir Ahmed, Member J&K State Sports Council and Chief Sports Officer, Abdul Qayoom visited the venue and encouraged the participants.
