JAMMU: Minister of State for Hajj and Auqaf, Syed Farooq Ahmad Andrabi, today visited various areas in the periphery of Tawi including parts of Gujar Basti, Thalwal which were left devastated by 2014 floods.
The Minister inspected the protection work area of bund at Thalwal and asked the officers to speed up the measures to be initiated for renovation of the utility for public convenience.
Andrabi directed the officers to strictly pursue the project envisaging diversion of water of Tawi at Thalwal, a vulnerable spot presently populated by around 600 hundred families.
The Minister asked the Administrator Auqaf Islamia Jammu to look into the issue of raising fencing along the graveyard at Thalwal and ensure that the work on it is started at the earliest. He also asked him to prepare a proposal for repair and renovation of Mosque at Gujjar Nagar.
The Minister, while visiting several parts of Gujjar Basti, assessed the grievances of the inhabitants and asked the concerned authorities to take up early action for redressal of the same.
The Minister assured the people of the village that the present dispensation headed by Ms Mehbooba Mufti is well abreast with their problems and is committed to sort out the same in minimum possible time.
The Minister asked the Executive Engineer I&FC to step up efforts for safety and convenience of people of these vulnerable areas during rains and unfavorable season. He asked them to take up works on priority basis for a logical conclusion.
He asked the Executive Engineer PHE to ensure adequate drinking water facilities in the village.
