Andrabi reviews functioning of PHE, PDD, Irrigation & Flood Control

KATHUA, Oct 13: Minister of State for Haj & Auqaf, PHE and Irrigation & Flood Control, Power Development and Industries & Commerce, Syed Farooq Ahmad Andrabi today chaired a meeting to review the functioning of various departments in the district.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Kathua, Dr. Bharat Bhushan, SE M&RE Kathua, Sanjeev Rathore, Dy. Dir. Geology & Mining, Sonali Gupta, Asstt. Dir. Handloom, N D Verma, Executive Engineers PHE and PDD besides General Manager DIC and Manager Estate SIDCO were present in the meeting.
The Minister while reviewing the physical and financial achievements made by the PHE and PDD stressed upon the officers to perform their duties with dedication so as to ensure continuous and adequate power and water supply to the people. He asked them to carry out regular inspections in their respective areas for better services to the people and further directed them to devise better mechanism to serve people of far flung areas.
The Minister was also apprised about the various problems being faced by the PDD which includes lack of modern transformer repair workshop in the district and overloading of sub stations besides others.
Executive Engineer PHE apprised the Minister about insufficient funds for tankers fuel and requested for separate funding to replace PHE pipes damaged in recent floods.
The Minister after reviewing the functioning of various departments directed the officers to respond to people’s problem in a proactive manner.
Every un-electrified hamlet will be electrified by 2020 under Deen Dayal Upadhaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY), asserted the Minister.
