SRINAGAR, Feb 17: Dozens of Anganwadi representatives from all districts of the Valley today staged protests against the Government for failing to address their demands.
The Anganwadi workers have been demanding hike in salary, status of Government employees, promotion of senior Anganwadi workers to supervisors and grant of SRO 144 in case of death of employee.
The agitating workers said the Government has neglected them in the 2014-15 budget passed recently by State Government and their genuine demands were not raised in the assembly.
These employees have been protesting from last three years, but their promises were yet to be met.
“We were promised to fulfill our demands, but from last three years the Government is delaying our demands,” they said.
The workers demanded that 10th standard qualified workers and helpers be included in the service book records and they should be given the status of a Government employee.
