Anganwari workers stage protest

Srinagar, Nov 4: Anganwadi workers under the banner of Anganwadi Workers and Helpers Union today staged a protest demanding the release of their honorarium which lying pending for long.

Scores of such workers assembled in the Press Enclave and raised slogans in favour of their demands and impressing upon the Government to address their issues for the efficient functioning on the ground.
The workers demanded that they should be given their honorarium on monthly basis and also demanded that their honorarium which has not been released for last more than 8 months should be released without any further delay.
“Beti Bachao Beti Padhao is the slogan of the Government, but we are suffering due to the non-payment of our honorarium. We appeal the Government to take measures so that our honorarium is paid every month,” Latiefa Ganai, State Vice-President of Anganwadi Workers-Helpers Union said.
She said that the honorarium is pending for the helpers to supervisors due to which they are facing immense difficulties.
She said that the last DPC in the department was carried out in 2011 and since then they are waiting with having worked in the department for the last many years.
“We demand that the DPC must be conducted without any further delay and should be carried out as per seniority and those who highly qualified with PGs should get the preference,” she said.
The workers appealed the LG Manoj Sinha and other higher-ups to pay heed to their issues and take steps to fulfil their genuine demands.
