Ankita secures 8th place in International Law Moot Court Competition 2024

JAMMU, Feb 18: Ankita Sharma secured 8th Place Awardee in the top 10 national pleaders of the World’s most prestigious Phillip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition 2024 – held here today.
Ankita is the final year student of National Law University, Shimla.
It is worthwhile to notice that among other distinguished conferments, she was also the Popular Speaker of India Awardee in India’s largest speech competition ‘Speak India’ 2020, the Asian Mooting Champion of Prof. N.R Madhava Menon Asian Mooting Competition 2021-22, the Octa finalist of XIX K.K. Luthra Moot Court, 2023 and the national debate winner by National Human Rights Commission of India 2021 etc.
Jessup is the world’s largest moot court competition, with participants from roughly 700 law schools in 100 countries and jurisdictions.
One team is allowed to participate from every eligible school. Teams prepare oral and written pleadings arguing both the applicant and respondent positions of the case.
The Jessup 2024 Problem concerns traitors and crooks, and raises issues related to the right to political expression, statelessness, the right to a nationality, and the scope of the United Nations Security Council’s authority in the pacific settlement of disputes.
The dispute between two states submitted before the International Court of Justice by a special agreement.
