JAMMU, Mar 22: Ankur Maitrika Hospital achieved yet another milestone by successfully conducting an Arthroscopic Rotator Cuff Repair of shoulder in a 60-year-old male patient who was suffering from left shoulder pain from quite some time, for which he was on treatment for long with no benefit.
The surgery was performed by team headed by Dr Satvir Singh, Head Orthopaedics, Joint replacement and Sports Injury Unit Ankur Maitrika Hospital, Dr Shafiq and Dr Rohit Gupta Anaesthesia and Critical Care Specialist.
Dr Satvir said that the patient had a rotator cuff tear of Left shoulder which was troubling him for long and was hampering his activity of daily living and sleep. Dr Satvir, after proper evaluation of the patient, decided to conduct arthroscopic repair of the torn cuff. Dr Satvir further said that this condition is mostly missed and confused with frozen shoulder and this needs to be precisely differentiated from the same with proper clinical evaluation. The treatment is a keyhole surgery of shoulder with the help of advanced arthroscopic tower and instrument the torn cuff is repair back to its place. As the Surgery is a minimal invasive surgery, there is less pain. The rehabilitation of the patient is quick and the patient can start his activities of daily living as soon as possible. Dr Satvir said the patient has been discharged from the hospital next day and is doing well and has started his rehabilitation programme.
Dr Singh who is an expert in joint replacement and arthroscopic surgeries of the knee, shoulder, hip and ankle and was previously associated with Artemis Hospital Gurugram said that Orthopaedic Joint Replacement and Trauma Unit is fully functional at Ankur Maitrika Hospital and the whole spectrum of Orthopaedic Surgeries like Joint Replacement, Sport Injuries, Trauma, etc. are being done here regularly now.
