Ankush helps Challenger Club to drub UCC by 12 runs to win title trophy

UDHAMPUR, Jan 24: Ank-ush Bandral’s all-round show helped Challenger Cricket Club to outplay United Cricket Club (UCC) Udhampur by a narrow margin of 12 runs to help his team win the title trophy of the Chuni Lal Khajuria Memorial T20 Cricket Tournament at Subash Stadium, here today.
Former Chief Minister J&K and former Union Minister, Dr Farooq Abdullah was the chief guest on the occasion, while Provincial president National Conference Devender Rana, MLA Pawan Gupta and Balwant Singh Mankotia were the guests of honour. Some working Committee members of Jammu and Kashmir Association were also president on the occasion.
The chief guest and the other dignitaries distributed prizes  among the winners and runners-up teams on the occasion.
Earlier, winning the toss and batting first, Challenger Cricket Club rode on a power-packed 65 off 32 balls, studded with 6 fours and 4 sixes by Ankush Bandral to score a fighting total of 140 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 6 wickets in the process. Apart from Bandral, Vikram Jamwal also scored valuable 23 runs for the team. Bandral, in particular, was in sublime toch, hitting the ball with fluidity and grace. He simply sent the rival bowlers on a leather-hunt.
For UCC, Abhish took 2 wickets while Ritik claimed one wicket.
UCC, in reply, managed to score 128 runs in the stipulated 20 overs by losing 8 wickets, thus lost the match by a narrow margin of 12 runs. Gopal was the top scorer for UCC, scoring 24 runs. For Challenger Cricket Club, Ankush Bandral and Anshuman Singh took 2 wickets each.
