UDHAMPUR, May 7: KV No-1 Udhampur celebrated its Annual Day with unprecedented fanfare in the Vidyalaya campus, here today.
The function was presided over by the chief guest Brig Tejinder Singh Sandhu, Deputy GOC, HQ 71 Sub Area cum Chairman, VMC, while Harjeet Kaur was the guest of honour.
The guests were formally welcomed with bouquets and books by the School Principal.
The function commenced with the lighting of the ceremonial lamp, followed by spiritual ‘Vedic Mantras’ recited melodiously by the students.
A welcome song was presented by the students, which was followed by Annual Report of the School presented by the Principal, Sumit Mehra. He threw light on the School’s achievements in academics and co-curricular arenas.
Prizes were given away to the toppers and other students who had brought laurels to the school in various competitions and contests.
The chief guest in his speech to the audience appreciated the parents, teachers and the Principal for encouraging and bringing out the inherent talents of the students.
The cultural programme followed showcasing the vibrant and colourful dances from different states of India including Rajasthan, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu & Kashmir. Bangra of Punjab won the hearts of everyone present on the occasion.
A hindi play based on the theme of ‘Truthfullness of Mahatma Gandhi’ was presented by the students on the occasion, which won hearts.
A beautiful dance drama paying tribute to the great heroes of the Indian armed forces was also presented by the students on the occasion.
Every item was based on the theme of ‘Unity in Diversity’.
The Vote of thanks was presented by Vice-Principal, Bimla Pandita.
The event concluded with the presentation of National Anthem.
