KATHUA, Feb 26: The 25th Annual Awards of Lala Kanhaiya Shah Educational Trust were presented to meritorious students in a simple function held at Government Higher Secondary School, Mahanpur, here today.
Colonel (Retd) Mahan Singh, Chairman District Development Council Kathua was the chief guest, while Sohan Lal Gupta, Sarpanch Mahanpur was the guest of honor and KC Gupta, Chairman of the Trust presided over the function.
The prestigious ‘Uttam Vidyarthi Award’ of Rs 10000 was shared by Akansha Chalotra of HSS Pallan and Shreya Devi of HSS Bhaddu for being topped in Plus 2 examination securing 493/500 marks each, while Nitish Kumar, son of Tara Chand of Adarsh Vidya Niketan High School Mahanpur claimed LAKSH Merit Award for securing 485/500 in class 10th Board exam in Mahanpur zone.
Esha Verma of GHSS Mahanpur claimed a special award of Rs 5000 by securing 5th position in 12th Board exam, while financial help of Rs 1000 each was awarded to 10 students of Primary level of the Mahanpur zone. Certificates of appreciation and mementoes were given to Varun Paroch (12th class student) for participation in 4th National Kabaddi Championship besides Hari Singh, Senior Lecturer (Retd) and Mohinder Jalmeria, Senior Lecturer HSS Mahanpur were also felicitated for their contribution in the academic field in the area.
Shakuntla Munde, Principal of the School welcomed all the dignitaries, while the chief guest lauded the role of the Trust in promoting education in the area by providing financial assistance for the last 25 years.
Ashok Gupta, general secretary of the Trust highlighted the efforts made by the Trust in promoting education. The programme was compared by Arvind Sharma and vote of thanks was presented by Arun Gupta, member trustee.
