JAMMU, Dec 5: A four- day Sports, Academic and Cultural Meet was inaugurated at Acharya Shri Chander College of Medical Sciences jointly by DK Batra, Joint Secretary and Dr Pavan Malhotra, Director Principal in presence of faculty members, staff and students.
The first event of Tug of War between female staff members and girl students was won by female staff members.
In 100 mtrs event for female, Dr Chandpreet Kour of ENT Deptt stood 1st, Dr Depinder Kour of Microbiology stood 2nd and Dr Shalini Sobti of Department of Community Medicine stood 3rd.
A friendly cricket match between the staff and students was also organized in which the staff scored a mammoth total of 228 runs. Dr Amit Suri top scored with 58 runs, while Dr Gurpreet Singh scored 43 runs. Dr Rajesh Gupta scored 42 runs and Dr Ravinder Gupta scored 35 runs.
The students were bundled out for a paltry total of 43 runs with Dr Hardeep Singh, Dr Ajay Puri, Dr Amit Suri, Dr Ravinder Gupta and Dr Jatanbir sharing 2 wickets each. Dr Amit Suri was adjudged as man of the match.
During the course of the meet, various cultural, sports and academic events will be organized in which for the first time in the history, a friendly cricket match between the faculties of 2 Medical Colleges of Jammu will be organized tomorrow.
The meet will end with a cultural function being presented by the 1st Year MBBS students of the college.
