Annual Sports Week at Government Polytechnic concludes

JAMMU, Nov 29: Annual Sports Week at Government Polytechnic, Bikram Chowk, Jammu which was inaugurated by Navin Agarwal, Director General, Youth Services and Sports earlier, concluded here today.
On the concluding day, in cricket final, Automobile Engineering Department defeated Computer Engineering Depart-ment by 80 runs.
Batting first, Automobile Engineering Department scored 142/9 in 15 overs, in reply Computer Engg. Department was bundled out for 73 runs. Ashfaq was the top scorer from Automobile Engg Department, scoring 31 runs.
In Volleyball final, Architecture Engineering Department defeated Mecha-nical Engineering Department by 25-19, 25-22 and 16-14 in a tough contest.
In table tennis final, Asad Sharma from Electrical Engg Department defeated Vansh Mahajan from Mechanical Engg. Department by (2-0), while in badminton final, Mohit Sharma of Electrical Engg. Department defeated Vishal Verma from Civil Engg. Department by 21-12 and 21-19.
In carrom final, Kartik and Akash of Automobile Engine-ering lost to Tariq and Mukesh of Civil Engineering Department by 3-0.
The various prizes and trophies will be awarded to the players on the Annual Day Function of the College scheduled to be held on December 2, 2014.
The Sports Week was organized in the college under the patronage of Er. Arun Bangotra, Principal of the College, while Er Inderjeet Singh was the chairman, Er K S Bhatia was vice-chairman and Rakesh Kakkar as sports secretary.
