JAMMU, Dec 14: Forum for Peace and Territorial Integrity of State and former MP, Sheikh Abdul Rehman has assailed what he called the double face of ruling dispensation viz a viz J&K affairs.
Addressing a press conference here, today Sheikh Rehman said that the Government of India has hatched a deep rooted conspiracy to do away with the Article 370.
He said with a calculated move firstly Assembly was dissolved and President’s rule was invoked and then Unconstitutionally recommendation was obtained and later on the basis of brute majority in the Parliament the Article 370 was annulled to fulfill the political aspirations of the BJP. The annulling of Article 370 was quite against the wishes of the people, he added.
Hailing the directions of Apex Court to restore Statehood to J&K, Rehman said the restoration of its lost status to J&K is a welcome step together with elections in the State will certainly strengthen the democracy and democratic forces and remote control system from New Delhi for long time is no solution at all. The Article 1 of the Indian Constitution clearly maintains that India is the Union of States and given its federal shape where states have more powers. But in case of J&K powers have not only been snatched but State structure has also been reduced making a mockery of the Constitution after madly misusing the majority in the Parliament.
He reminded the ruling alliance that three subjects i. e Defense, Communication and Foreign Affairs were given to India while all other affairs were with the State whose legality can never be altered, he added.
