RAJOURI, Jan 20: While Director Health Services Jammu ordered inquiry into the negligent death of new born in Rajouri hospital four days back, yet another similar incident of negligence has been reported from the same hospital today.
Even no benefit to the woman was accorded by the hospital authorities which is given to the mother during delivery from the State Health department. They reached hospital in private vehicle and were forced to flee hospital after the incident by staff to avoid wrath of the public.
26-year-old Ruksana Mir, wife of Tasleem Arif resident of Darhal was brought to the hospital during midnight after labour pains. She had earlier got examined in routine by Gynae doctor on January 17, who told that child was normal and they should come after January 21 as it was premature. The woman went home and last evening started experiencing pains. Her husband and a few family members brought her to hospital last mid night. There was no concerned doctor available in district hospital. The family raised voice to call doctor but the nursing and other staff did not bother and offered medicines and injections just to pass time. At around 7 am, the woman delivered male baby which died instantly.
The senior staff members came to know about the incident and the woman was forcibly discharged with in two and half hours and she was removed in private transport to Darhal. Mr Arif alleged that it was utter negligence on the part of Medical staff there. Several such incidents are taking place in the same hospital but nobody was bothered. The doctors remain unmoved and there is no accountability at all.
Minister incharge Health, Shabir Khan when contacted said that it was communicated to him by the family members of victim on phone from Darhal during the day. He said that instructions have been given to the Director Health Jammu to conduct inquiry and take action against the guilty. He said negligence on the part of medical staff will not be tolerated.
