Ansari inaugurates Golf Tournament, Bukhari distributes prizes

SRINAGAR, Oct 6: Minister for Youth Services & Sports, Information Technology and Technical Education, Molvi Imran Raza Ansari today inaugurated one day Golf tournament at Royal Springs Golf Course, Srinagar.
The Minister teed off the tournament early morning in the presence of number of golf lovers.
Director General of Police K Rajendra Kumar, Secretary Tourism Farooq Ahmed Shah, ADGP’s, IGP’s and other concerned were present on the occasion.
The tournament was jointly organized by Jammu Kashmir Police Housing Corporation and TCI Max with an aim to encourage the caddies of the Royal Springs Golf Course.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister said that various efforts are underway to develop golf in the State. “We have a plan to revive the glory of the prestigious game of golf by developing global level infrastructure both in Kashmir and Jammu so that national and international level players can play here at ease”, said the Minister. He also stressed upon various stake holders to encourage local youth to play the game.
Earlier, Additional Director General of Police Dilbag Singh briefed the Minister about the tournament.
Later on, in the valedictory function, Minister for Public Works, Syed Altaf Bukhari highlighted the importance of sports in mental and physical development of human beings.
Underscoring the importance of sports, the Minister said that Golf attract players from national and international level and provides them a platform to showcase their talent which would also promote the tourism of the State in a big way. He said all measures are being taken to upgrade and modernize various golf courses to provide a platform to the budding golfers in the state to exhibit their talent.
Appreciating Jammu and Kashmir Police for sustaining and nurturing the golfing talent in the Valley, Bukhari said the force is playing an important role in promoting various sports in the state. He also lauded the role of Police Housing Corporation, organizers of the event, in building modern infrastructure for the organization.
The inaugural and closing ceremonies were attended by MLA Duroo, Farooq Ahmad Andrabi, DGP (Prisons), SK Mishra, ADsGP, SP Vaid and SM Sahai, Secretary Tourism, Farooq Ahmad Shah, IsGP, AK Choudhary, AG Mir, SK Sharma, Jagjit Kumar and MA Ganai, DIG Alok Kumar and other dignitaries.
